Training and Events
The Education Team organises a varied programme of training and events each year. The geography of the Diocese means that the most central location for large events tends to be York, but wherever possible we organise training regionally so that travel time for participants is kept to a minimum. You will also find many training resources on this website.

Regular features of our programme are:
Leadership Lunches – held over lunch or afternoon tea in the Autumn and Spring terms. These offer a regular opportunity to meet with Diocesan officers to keep updated on important issues, share concerns and good practice and develop support networks.
“SIAS and How to Survive it” briefings are held termly and help Headteachers and Governors prepare for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools.
Our annual Education Conference is held towards the end of the Summer term at the Racecourse in York. Key speakers from the education and theological world come together at this event to offer a unique experience for Headteachers, staff and Governors, as well as clergy interested in the education world. This has become an extremely well regarded conference and one that attracts representatives from the vast majority of our 127 schools!
Foundation Governors may access free training in the Autumn term on how to be effective in their important role.
