The Responsibility Is Ours

TRIO informs the whole congregation about the finances of their church. It encourages church members, once informed, to accept responsibility for the ministry, mission, and maintenance of the local church. TRIO is designed to reach regular worshippers (those attending at least once a month,) along with regular donors and those on the Electoral Roll. It does not seek to address the wider non-worshipping community. That would be a strategy for a different fund- raising programme.

TRIO is designed for churches which have not previously run a Stewardship programme, and for churches which have not held a Christian Giving programme for several years.

If your church income in the next 12 months looks unlikely to meet the demands of expenditure, TRIO may be for you.

Since the launch of the TRIO Christian Giving programme in the Diocese in 2007, participating parishes have raised their annual incomes by thousands of pounds. The majority have experienced an increase of at least 25% growth in annual planned direct giving, and some are doing significantly better than that.

‘Having someone come along to support the planning team and a guest preacher, really reminded us that the Diocese is a partner in our work.’

‘As a result of TRIO, we have identified gifts within members of the congregation which we were not aware of before, and also people who were willing to help the programme who had never been involved before.’

‘TRIO did not assume that I knew what the Parish Share was used for. I have grasped its purpose now, and I understand the idea of the Diocese being a family of churches supporting one another….rich helping poor and so on.’
