Church Tourism
The Diocese of York has formed a Church Tourism Group to reflect the growing interest in churches and cathedrals by visitors for their architecture, art and musical heritage. The Group will respond to:
- providing visitors with an enhanced experience of Christian history
- helping churches to provide a welcoming ministry to visitors
- providing promotional material through brochures and websites
- sharing good practice in church tourism including cultural opportunities
There is a planned Diocesan Church Tourism Group visit to Guisborough Churches on 12th October - for more details, download the August newsletter below.
For future visits please book through roythompson2@btinternet.com or 01347 878644.
Church Tourism is worth over £300m to the economy and is considerable value to local communities especially in inner cities and rural areas and enhances the value of church buildings to those who look after them. Please visit the website of the Churches Tourism Association and Churchcare.
