XL Events

XL events are run as an opportunity for children and young people from right across the Diocese of York to meet together, to feel part of their wider church family and to show the ‘adult’ church how important they are.

XLS is an annual event for young people aged 11-18. This year we booked Lightwater Valley theme park for the evening of Sat May 22nd for an evening of EXCLUSIVE access to all the greatest rides, plus an open air concert with 'The Steels' and speaker Stephen Riley to round of the night. XL-children is a Diocesan event for children, families and children's groups to come together and have fun in God’s presence and held at Bishopthorpe Palace. The event was held on 26th June. It was a beautiful summer afternoon of fun, crafts, activities and worship in the beautiful setting of the Archbishop’s garden. See here for more details.

XLS AT NORTHERN SAINTS This is a new adventure for XL events. We have partnered with the Boy's Brigade and Girl's Brigade, along with other dioceses to hold a youth weekend event for young people. Unfortunately it has had to be postponed until summer 2011. ‘Northern Saints’ will take place at Hollybush Farm between Thirsk and Northallerton. It will be a fantastic weekend with loads of activities, great entertainment and worship. Young people can come in a group with their leaders or on their own, and join one of the 'villages' on camp where they will be well supervised. More information will be posted as soon as definite dates for 2011 are set.
