TREASURE

Treasure is a course designed by the Children and Youth Team. It is aimed at helping everyone to think about how we engage with children and young people whether we are new to it or have been doing it for years, clergy or lay, young or old.

Do you think the Church has something to give children and young people? This course should help you think through exactly how you might go about doing that.

The course is made up of 4 x 2 hour sessions:

  1. 'Children and the Church' - what place do they have in the Church and the Kingdom?
  2. 'The World of Children and Young People' - they are not adults! what difference does this make?
  3. 'Leading and Learning' - what role do we play as adults?
  4. 'Safeguarding' - how we can give them every possible opportunity to grow and develop?

This is part of the Diocese of York 'Equipping God's People' courses. It can be run in a parish or across parishes or deanery.

Other Training

There are many varied training opportunities available for groups and individuals. These may be produced and run by other agencies in the area as well as further afield. They cover a wide range of subjects from First Aid to more specific Youth Work or Children’s Work training courses, and are both accredited and non-accredited courses. Please contact Nigel or Jon to discuss your particular needs for training. Some information on other organistaions offering training is available at the bottom of the page.
