The Churches Regional Commission for Yorkshire and the Humber in partnership with the Leeds Church Institute are holding this regional event to consider:

  • Where the Big Society came from, what has happened to it and where it is going?
  • How the Big Society fits with a theology of the Common Good?
  • What regional inequalities we encounter in the context of the Big Society?

Mr Andrew Stunell MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the DCLG, will speak on “Whither the Big Society?”

Dr Patrick Riordan SJ, Lecturer in Political Philosophy at Heythrop College, will speak on “The Big Society and the Christian Concept of the Common Good”

Prof Peter Wells, Director, Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research at SHU, will speak on “The Big Society in Yorkshire and the Humber: Regional Disparities”
