Training for children and youth workers
Learning to Work with Children and Young People
This course is designed to give encouragement, confidence and basic skills to anyone working with children or young people within a church context.
The course consists of 4 sessions:
Session 1:
- Children and Church
- Reflecting on the place children have in our church
- Considering a biblical view of children
- Thinking about connecting with God in places outside church
Session 2:
- Child and Faith Development
- Introducing an understanding of how children develop and learn
- Introducing an understanding of how children’s faith may develop
- Considering how to help children on their spiritual
Session 3:
- Leading and Learning
- Reflecting on ourselves as leaders
- Understanding different learning styles and relating them to programmes and planning
Session 4:
- Safeguarding Children and Young People
- Reflecting on our duty of care towards children and young people
- Considering practical aspects of this safeguarding including health and safety, risk assessment, child protection
