Common Tenure
From the end of January 2011 many clergy in the Church of England will hold their ecclesiastical office under a new form of tenure, known as Common Tenure. It is part of a framework of terms of service that aims to bring security, clarity, and encouragement and support for the Clergy's ministry.
Some clergy, including assistant curates and priests-in-charge, will automatically transfer to Common Tenure.
Others, including incumbents, will have the option whether to transfer to Common Tenure, and will be contacted during autumn 2010 about this.
In the meantime, more information can be found at www.commontenure.org, or you are invited to contact your archdeacon about the implications of Common Tenure.
