Mutual Support Within God's Family

As a part of the of the A Way Ahead strategy and renewal of our Mission throughout the diocese, the Diocesan Synod agreed it was best to consult all parishes and benefices on how our mission should be shaped, and how we should fund this. In November, the Synod and Archbishop's Council invited representatives from the parishes to Archdeaconry Consultations in order to talk about this.

After the Mutual Support consultations we received over 200 emails and letters giving feedback. Key themes that came forward included the desire for a focus on mission; the need to look more carefully at the idea of categorising parishes to inform the balance of financial support; and the practical challenges that are facing parishes in terms of mission, finance and the payment of parish share.

Please find below the presentation that was made to Diocesan Synod on 7th May, and a summary of the feedback. The Archbishop's Council, the Archbishop's Staff, Rural Deans and small working group are meeting to develop the ideas further.
